Admission Requirements
National, foreign and stateless individuals can apply if they hold a first degree in Physiotherapy, Exercise and Health or similar may apply. Favored characteristics: a) Proven experience in managing physical exercise sessions with special populations; b) Interest in research; c) Fluency in English.
Work plan
We aim to carry out a randomized clinical trial with the following objectives: a) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Trampoline Intensive Fall Training for Parkinson (LIFTT) program compared to the usual interventions regarding balance, fear of falling, frequency and severity of falls, gait, physical capacity, cognition and clinical alterations in people with mild or moderate PD; and b) define a clinically adequate assessment protocol that best respond to this type of intervention protocol in people with Parkinson's Disease.
Duration of the fellowship
The scholarship will have a duration of 6 months, renewable up to a maximum of 12 months, from February 1, 2022.
Workplace
The work will be carried out at (1) Egas Moniz – Higher Education Cooperative, CRL (Almada), (2) at Jumpyard (space with trampolines in Alfragide) and (3) at the Portuguese Parkinson’s disease Patient Association (Campolide) under the scientific guidance of Profs. Doctors Catarina Godinho and Júlio Belo Fernandes, and Master Josefa Domingos.
Selection methods
In the first phase, we will assess the applicant’s curriculum. Next, candidates will be invited for an interview to discuss their resume and motivation. The final grade will be the weighted average of the curriculum evaluation (weight 60%) and the interview (weight 40%).
