Microbiology and Infectious Diseases

Research on Microbiology and Infectious Diseases group spans the fields of human, food, and environmental microbiology, with a focus on human health and disease. It´s our goal to contribute to a better understanding, monitorization and control of microbial infections taking advantage of its interactions with the community and with the large Egas Moniz clinical activity and facilities. Research on pathogens posing significant threats to the community such as antimicrobial resistant microorganisms are targeted by the research group, with the aim of understanding virulence factors and finding solutions that contribute towards the control and prevention of those threats.

This research group is aligned with the following SDGs: SDG 3, SDG 9, SDG 17
