Centre for Applied Social Studies
GESA aims to develop social studies in the research field of health, specially targeted to the community. The main theoretical themes in scope of this research group are: the new cultures of health and well-being, the new social uses of medicines, health literacy and the sources of health information, as well as citizenship in health.
GESA promotes interdisciplinary openness - based on its scientific framework within sociological analysis – by integrating different knowledge areas researchers. Another goal is to action partnerships with projects developed in other scientific streams of the CiiEM.
The inclusion of students in GESA projects and the creation of scientific and organizational conditions for advanced training in research are also objectives embedded in the activity of this research Group.
