Science and Technology Management Grant (BGCT)

 

A call for 1 Science and Technology Management Grant (BGCT) under the Egas Moniz Interdisciplinary Research Center (CiiEM) R&D Unit, funded by the Science and Technology Foundation, IP, for the activities at the CiiEM Observatory.

  

 

Scientific Area: Health Sciences

 

 

Admission Requirements:

 

1. PhD degree;

 

2. Experience of at least three years in Science and Technology Management;

 

3. Knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015 Standard;

 

4. Experience in organizing science communication activities;

 

5. Experience in organizing scientific events, namely congresses;

 

6. Good computer skills from the user's perspective, namely databases, web page maintenance (Umbraco Platform) and Office;

 

7. Capacity of planning and organization;

 

8. Sense of responsibility and ability to communicate and integrate into work teams.

 

Work plan: The work to be done will allow the fellow to deepen his experience in the management of science, technology and innovation programs, and the observation and monitoring of scientific productivity and resources available in a Research Center. It will involve a number of tasks, including: 1. Screening national and international competitions and other forms of funding for scientific research projects; 2. Support to the development of scientific research projects; 3. Collection and validation of CiiEM productivity data for continuous assessment of its activity; 4. Promotion of internal and external dissemination of the Centre's activities; 5. Update of the webpage of CiiEM; 6. Contact with science support agencies (national and international) and participation in their initiatives.

 

Duration of the fellowship: The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months, possibly renewable for an identical period, starting on 1 January 2020.

 

Workplace: The work will be developed at the Egas Moniz Interdisciplinary Research Center.

 

Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be as follows: curriculum evaluation and, if necessary, interview which may be presential, this requirement being mandatory for third country nationals according to art. 14c of the FCT Fellowship Regulation. In case of need of interview, its value will be 25%, with the remaining 75% corresponding to the curricular evaluation.

 

Form of publicity / notification of results: The final results of the evaluation will be publicized through an ordered list posted in a visible and public place at Egas Moniz, and the candidates will be notified via email.

Research Grant (Lab Scientist) under the European and Developing Countries Trials Partnership (EDCTP), EU LIFE Project

 

A Call for 1 Research Grant (Lab Scientist) is open for the research project "Neonatal HIV early infant diagnosis (EID) versus standard of care EID - Impact on Child Fact: a feasibility study of point-of care testing at birth versus at 6 weeks of age, on the uptake of ART and infant prophylaxis, and on rates of infant survival, morbidity and retention in care ”(LIFE acronym) funded by the European and Developing Countries Trials Partnership (EDCTP) ), EU, ongoing at Egas Moniz- CRL.

 

Scientific Area: Medical Sciences

 

Admission Requirements: The applicant must possess the master's degree. Preference is given to candidates who have gained working experience in molecular biology methods applied to human viruses.

 

Work plan: The applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing a ddPCR method to quantify proviral DNA from HIV-infected patients participating in the LIFE project. He will also be responsible for pol gene sequencing and analysis of antiretroviral resistance mutations in HIV-infected individuals participating in the LIFE project. It will also be responsible for env gene sequencing, genotype identification by phylogenetic analysis, identification of transmission clusters and tropism analysis in HIV-infected individuals participating in the LIFE project. Participate in the maintenance of a database of all results generated under the project. The candidate will also participate in the analysis of all the results obtained in the project and in the writing of manuscripts and communications.

 

Applicable laws and regulations: Regulation of Scientific and Technological Research Fellowships within the scope of Research Projects of Egas Moniz - Higher Education Cooperative, CRL.

 

Workplace: Work will be carried out at the Medicines Research Institute (iMed.ULisboa), Faculty of Pharmacy of Lisbon, and Egas Moniz- Higher Education Cooperative, CRL, under the supervision and scientific guidance of the project leader, the Professor Nuno Taveira.

 

Duration of the fellowship: The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months, possibly renewable for an identical period, starting on 1 December 2019.

 

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to 989.70 €, being paid monthly by bank transfer.

 

Selection Methods: The selection process will be developed based on curriculum evaluation.

 

Composition of the Selection Jury: The selection of candidates will be made by a jury made up of Drs Nuno Taveira, Inês Bártolo and Claudia Palladino.

 

Form of publicity / notification of results: The final results of the evaluation will be publicized through a list sorted by final grade obtained, and the approved candidate will be notified by email.

The Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-IUL) of the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) opens a tender to award a Research Grant to the Master under the project “Drugs and dietary supplements in performance consumption: social practices , Contexts and Literacy (ConPerLit) ”, under the reference PTDC / SOC-SOC / 30734/2017, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, IP, through national funds, under Project 3599 - Promoting Scientific Production, Technological Development and Innovation, under the following conditions:

• Methodological and technical competence in collecting and processing quantitative and qualitative information.

• Spoken and written domain of Portuguese and English.

 

Preferred Factors:

• Interest in developing the doctorate within the project;

• Training in the area of ​​health sociology;

• Knowledge and experience in collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data;

• Knowledge and experience in using Data Analysis software (SPSS; MaxQda);

• Good communication, organization and teamwork skills; autonomy and sense of responsibility.

National, foreign and stateless candidates holding the PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering and who have the following specific requirements may apply to the contest:

 

a) Proven experience in the preparation of biomaterial samples;

 

b) Proven experience in techniques of advanced characterization of materials such as Atomic Force Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, X-ray Spectroscopy, X-Ray Computed Microtomography, X-Ray Diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy;

 

c) Experience in advanced training of human resources;

 

d) Be the first author in at least 4 publications in indexed journals;
